As regular walkers it is brilliantly located in the stunning Borrowdale valley with great access to high or low level walks (if the weather is bad). You can walk straight from the hotel and get high on the fells if you wish or alternatively drive further a field.

We visited recently in October and sampled the menu from their new chef, which is absolutely superb. Interesting menu, beautifully presented and delicious. This will definitely become a foodie haunt for the future.

It’s great that they also have a regular pub bar with a roaring fire. We ate in one night. I had THE BEST fish and chips ever here.[/us_testimonial]

The staff are friendly and helpful and our room, the suite, is excellent. We had our meal with them for both evenings and couldn’t have asked for more. Staff are always pleasant and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Food is unbelievably good and they gave us some extra courses to try. Our room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom the same. We had dinner in the restaurant the first evening which was very good, my husband’s feather blade of beef especially so. A lovely walk the next morning recommended by the receptionist took us to the next village – Grange – where we enjoyed a welcome coffee. We ate in the Riverside Bar in the Hotel the second evening which was lovely – open fire and absolutely buzzing! Good food too. I think the nicest thing about the Scafell is the lovely staff who make you feel so much at home.[/us_testimonial]
